Don't Fear the Reaper

I'm really happy with how this turned out - the paint, the scenics on the base - it's exactly how I hoped it would look.

I've seen some build-ups of this kit online where the modellers went way overboard with adding scenic foliage to the base, but I figured, this is the Grim Reaper, so everything should be dead, right? So I covered the ground with dead leaves (imported from China!) and tufts of dead grass. The cobweb in the tree was a single strand of simple, cheap Halloween webbing.

Welcome To Atomic Modelling

When it comes to model kits, I'm a relative newbie. I built a lot of spaceship models as a kid, but never really got into figure kits (even though I wanted to), because the idea of painting them was daunting.

I started buying kits again around '99-'00, finally buying repops of all the Aurora monsters that I'd wanted as a kid, as well as the Planet of The Apes and DC super-hero re-issues... and they all went into storage until about mid-2016.

Since then, I've been building kits like a madman - figure kits and spaceships, both - but until the Autumn of 2018, never actually painted/finished any of them.

Now I'm slowly working my way through my stash, completing models one at a time, and posting pictures of them here as I do so.

Note - I build these kits for my own satisfaction (and as form of therapy). I make mistakes, and I'm nowhere near competition-level skill. Some seams are going to show. Some paint jobs are going to be rough. I don't have an especially steady hand and my eyesight isn't the sharpest, but I do my best.

As to subject matter, I'm interested in super-heroes, monsters and sci-fi subjects, mostly pre-dating 1980. Most of my collection are inexpensive repops of classic kits, or recent kits in the classic style.
